Hmm... so if Microsoft's track record with Vista can tell us anything. I predict this should be ready around Christmas of 2009! :D All kidding aside, I don't see Apple resting on its laurels. As long as Apple continues to come up with new ideas, Microsoft is going to continue to play catch up.

Well after looking it up several reports state that about 130 countries have US occupied bases that are active... The point is we are overextended.

Pentagon bureaucrats calculate that it would require at least $113.2 billion to replace just the foreign bases -- surely far too low a figure but still larger than the gross domestic product of most countries -- and an estimated $591,519.8 million to replace all of them. The military high command deploys to our overseas bases some 253,288 uniformed personnel, plus an equal number of dependents and Department of Defense civilian officials, and employs an additional 44,446 locally hired foreigners. These numbers, although staggeringly large, do not begin to cover all the actual bases we occupy globally. (Manhattan's Central Park, by contrast, is only 843 acres.) The Pentagon similarly fails to note all of the $5-billion-worth of military and espionage installations in Britain, which have long been conveniently disguised as Royal Air Force bases. If there were an honest count, the actual size of our military empire would probably top 1,000 different bases in other people's countries, but no one -- possibly not even the Pentagon -- knows the exact number for sure, although it has been distinctly on the rise in recent years."

Yup, and that's irrelevant to the discussion. Phones that aren't granted access to that market are still counted as Android devices.
"Smartphone OS" is a totally meaningless metric. It's as useful as "laptop OS" versus "desktop OS". Yes, you can report on it, but it begs the question "why?". And the answer is (9 times out of 10) "to make us look good, even though we're losing the battle that really counts".
I'll agree with you that phones that don't include Android Market are included in total figures but the big players in Android are the likes of HTC, Motorola, LG, Samsung e.t.c who all include access to Android Market, not to mention Google's 350,000 activations a day that all have access google services and in turn include the Market.
If people can't wake up to the fact that with regards to smartphone os market share, this is the way it's always been then that is their issue. Of course total iOS penetration can be counted in a different metric and there is nothing that anyone who wants to bash Apple can say to the massive success they've had. iOS is an unrivalled juggernaut as it stands today.

No, that is not Adware. Adware is a program that is installed *on your computer*, so it can launch windows whenever it wants.
I think he's saying that LimeWire is opening the popups when no browser window is open. That's not "adware" in the sense in which we're talking about, which is a hidden background program that opens browser windows randomly no matter what application you're running.

I'm not gonna buy music from Amazon again though, I downloaded 1 song for my Dad once from there. Because iTunes didn't have it, and Amazon emailed me for weeks with spam.

It'll be interesting to see if this is across the board.
Yup looked at them all now, still no difference in size really. The only photo that might show a diff in size is really blurry.

You haven't lost a cent, until you actually sell off your stocks. I'll be holding on to mine until they climb back up and beyond. Besides, having another rate cut is around the corner - this may happen sooner than you think.
Smart. So many people get caught up in the current price. Apple isn't going out of business anytime soon. Hold on to it, it will go up again. Maybe not very soon with what economists predict the economy to do over the next year, but most recessions only last ~9 months.

Went to the blue mountains about 2 hours west of sydney the other day.

Shot out of the window on a recent trip back from Pittsburgh. I was a bored passenger and decided to experiment a little. Came across a stretch of trees and thought a longer exposure would make an interesting photo. It's fairly drab, but I like the earthy tones it exhibits. Reminds me of some abstract art I've seen.

3. A scalper bought a huge portion of the tickets to resell. Apple does not let you transfer tickets. You must check-in at the registration desk with government issued ID (4th year attending).

I hope the gratuitous orange UI can be turned off. Especially that stitching. And get rid of the torn paper too, sheesh. Talk about taking a metaphor too far.
At least give an option for a black or dark brown dyed leather effect - who would buy a mid-70s style tan leather thing these days?
It's one thing on an iPad where it's full screen and it's like holding a real calendar in your hand. It's not the same on a computer monitor. And I can't doodle on the blank bits of paper either.
It might be nice to integrate event invitations in Apple Mail with Apple Calendar too, without that intermediate 'save to downloads folder' step. Sure, there's 'smart filters' that can pick out the date in the email too but they're not immediately obvious. In fact, Mail and Calendar integration is rather poor overall.
